Amplifying Intersectionality in SEND
I redefine how the SEND landscape understands and responds to the multi-layered identities of learners. Through my PhD research, I examine how race, culture, socioeconomic realities and more overlap within special educational. I don’t leave this research on the shelf; I actively translate it into institutional change.
Outcome: Driving national conversations through major keynote presentations, conferences and delivering targeted training and strategic consultancy across dozens of specialist provisions.
Navigating Systemic Barriers
Through targeted advocacy, I supported a cohort of families from racially and culturally diverse backgrounds in navigating the statutory EHCP process and challenging institutional discrimination. My work focused on integrating their lived experiences with complex legal frameworks, using appropriate statutory channels to confront discrimination directly.
Outcome: Resolved complex institutional discrimination through formal mediation, definitive action plans—securing tailored provisions that fully honoured the families' cultural beliefs, and successfully implementing 1:1 support for 3 SEND students.
Championing SEND: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (S:DEI)
I designed an Undergraduate module for a Higher Education Institution that incorporated DEI and SEND at the core. This project transformed the student learning experience, enabling future professionals to challenge standard models and gain a expansive, systemic perspective of truly inclusive education.
Outcome: Students moved confidently from theory to practice—significantly boosting engagement and professional confidence while equipping future educators with a live framework to apply intersectional equity on the ground.
