What age range or school type do you support?

I proudly support SEND children and young people from the age of 3-25 years old, and work with nurseries, primary, secondary schools into further education, colleges and universities.

Do you work with SEND children or young adults in their homes?

We are primarily a provision-based service, supporting children and young people directly in their schools and colleges. However, we deeply value the vital role of parents and carers, and we recognise the importance of the home environment.As part of our holistic approach, we offer optional home visits lasting up to one hour for our 1:1 SEND support service. These observations allow us to see how the child or young person interacts in their familiar surroundings, help us collaborate closely with families, and ensure consistent support across all settings.Please note: Because these visits are optional, schools must obtain formal permission from parents or carers before a home visit can be scheduled.

What happens during the home observations?

Home visits are informal, low-pressure, and designed to see the child or young person in their most comfortable environment. The one-hour visit typically includes:Settling In (5–10 mins): A brief, relaxed greeting to help the child/ young person feel comfortable with my presence.Natural Observation and Understanding Their Perspective (30 mins): I observe the child/ young person as they engage in their usual routines without any pressure to engage or interact with me, unless they want to. Most importantly, I like to provide the opportunity to centre their perspective, irrespective of their communication style, ability or needs (which is where my vast experience comes in handy). If they want to share what they like or dislike or anything else, I encourage and welcome it—their views and feelings are a valuable insight into their world as they experience it and a significant part of the visit.Parent/Carer Catch-Up (10–15 mins): A gentle conversation with parents/ carers to hear your insights. We will discuss what works well at home and what challenges your child or young person may experience, to ensure that both your voice and theirs helpa inform the school-based support.

Do you only work with verbal children?

Absolutely not! I work with all SEND children and young people, regardless of their communication style or ability. I have extensive experience of working with non-speaking (you may say non-verbal) SEND learners, as well as those who are pre-verbal to conversational. I will work within the parameters of their preferred communication style and what is already in place at home and school.

Do you only work in schools?

Question 6

Can you provide SEND support to multiple children in our school?

Accepted Answer

The short answer is, Yes! I pride myself on recognising the unique qualities of SEND individuals, and so each child/ young person is supported and provided with a tailor-based service specific to their needs, with some general recommendations for all (if appropriate).

What if the child/ young person does not yet have a diagnosis of SEND, can you still help?

Yes, I can, but it helps if they are on a highly likely pathway- waiting for an assessment, for example a Neurodevelopmental  [e.g. autism] or Speech and Language (likely to lead to a SEN(D) diagnosis). I suggest booking in for a 15 min free call online call to discuss the specific needs of the child/ young person.

What if the school says my child 'has SEND' and I don't agree?

This can be a very difficult place to be in, with both sides ultimately wanting what's best for the child/ young person. I am positive about Neurodiversity and embracing neurodivergent individuals but recognise first-hand the cultural stigma and misinformation that operates in this space and the impact on parents. I can help to facilitate an initial discussion between school and families- the opportunity for all sides to share their thoughts and feelings with empathy and respect. This meeting will also allow both school and parents/ carers to share professional reports, information, observations. I will then mediate a further meeting with all parties (and the child/ young person, where appropriate) to create a clear plan of action for support and next steps (e.g. referral/ change of provision).

How much do your services cost?

Do you offer different rates for educational institutions vs. parents and carers?

Yes I do. I understand that local authorities, universities, and parents/ carers operate with completely different budgets and funding structures. I know the 'hidden' expenses that come alongside raising a SEND child/ young person that external professionals do not always understand. I price institutional contracts in line with specialist educational consultancy standards alongside my expertise and experience, while maintaining separate, accessible funding packages for family advocacy.

I have a strict budget- can we still work together?

Without a doubt, yes we can. I pride myself on being collaborative and solution-focused and I value relational partnerships built on mutual trust and shared values that strengthen over time. If you have a specific, fixed budget allocation (such as a school CPD pot or a specific local authority grant), please let me know during our initial conversation. I will do my absolute best to tailor a proposal or scale the scope of the project to fit within your financial boundaries without compromising on quality.
